with Afternuage
Context
Afternuage is a global discovery platform that brings artists and brands from all over the world into one place. Users can explore talent city by city, view their social presence, and listen to music directly within the platform.
Problem discovery
Music discovery is often fragmented across platforms and regions. Fans struggle to find emerging artists in different countries, while artists lack visibility outside their local communities.
- No centralized hub for exploring artists worldwide.
- Artist discovery heavily depends on algorithms of a few streaming platforms.
- Geographical discovery (city & country) is almost nonexistent.
- Lack of integrated experience across social, Spotify, and YouTube.
Goal
To create an immersive and centralized platform where anyone can discover, suggest, and explore artists from around the globe.
Research
We analyzed how music fans discover new talent and identified a clear gap: platforms were either too localized or too algorithm-driven. Many users expressed interest in a map- or globe-based exploration experience to discover artists by location.
Through interviews and user testing, we validated the need for a platform that merges music APIs, geographical discovery, and community-driven artist curation.

- Users wanted to explore music visually through an interactive globe.
- Integration with Spotify & YouTube was a must for seamless listening.
- Community contributions (suggesting artists) add authenticity and growth.
- Simple, modern UI was key for engagement across web and mobile.
Product scope & flow
Afternuage allows users to move around a 3D interactive globe, click on cities, and instantly discover artists from that region. The side sheet displays artist details, including Spotify embeds, YouTube videos, and social links. Clerk authentication powers user management, enabling users to suggest artists and contribute to the growing database.
I implemented the interactive globeusing WebGL/Three.js, integrated Spotify APIand YouTube embeds, and added Clerk authentication for secure user management and contributions.
